Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice': Literary club - Kleingruppe

Welcome to the course on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, one of the most beloved and enduring novels in the English language. We will take a deep dive into the novel, examining its themes, characters, plot, and literary techniques. Students will have the opportunity to engage with the text in a variety of ways, including through online quizzes, language definitions, and academic critique. The club will be held in a relaxed and friendly environment, encouraging students to share their own thoughts and insights on the novel.
Students will learn about Austen's innovative use of literary techniques, such as free indirect discourse. Free indirect discourse is a narrative technique that allows the author to convey the thoughts and feelings of a character without directly stating them. Austen uses this technique to great effect in Pride and Prejudice, creating a complex and nuanced portrait of her characters. In addition to examining Austen's literary techniques, the course will also explore the novel's themes, including love, marriage, social class, and gender roles. Students will have the opportunity to discuss these themes in depth, and to consider their relevance to our own world.
Whether you are a first-time reader of Pride and Prejudice or a seasoned Austen fan, this club is for you. We invite you to join us on a journey through one of the greatest novels ever written. Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme sind Englischkenntnisse mindestens auf dem Niveau B2.
